Do we need to wait ten years to recognized talented people? For me, obviously not, I ought to share brilliant people, and fantastic music, innovative ones, and this duo siblings got the spice! This is Wild Belle.
Wild Belle are an American indie rock band, composed of siblings Elliot and Natalie Bergman, who grew up in and around Chicago. They were born by a musician parents, who brought them up in a house full of music, into an audiophile world. Their musical roots were tinted by artist like Jhon Coltrane, Aretha Franklin, Sun Ra, Prince, Michael Jackson inside jamaican music, african beats, blues, r&b and soul touches. Did you clicked the artist link, oh well you have an idea of how this goes, just reggae-laced jams or kinda.
ISLES (2013)
Isles is the first studio album from the Chicago's due, it has 11 tracks, tracks that sends us to an up n' dows love journey from the sticky and defiant "Keep You" pass on fantastic saxophones jams, to my favorite "Love Like This" that evokes disappointments and unanswerable answers. The interesting Wild Belle sounds is compound by nice drums, saxos sounds, guitar touches to finally become in a 2.0 reggae, nevertheless you can easily hear electronic sounds mixed up, something that really love, it's nice to be experimental! "Another Girl" is a perfect example, you listen the incredible Natalie's voice while synthesizers are blaring, it's tremendous!
Another odd detail is the art cover:
"It's a painting that my mom did when she was in college. I know that lots of people can identify with a photograph more, but her paintings really resonate with both of us," "We lost her a few years ago," "I think that she'll probably be psyched that we're using her painting on the cover."
"There is not one song on their forthcoming debut album, Isles, that sends you reaching for the skip button". Emma Brown for Interview Magazine
Lyrics:
Love Like This:
"You were saying all the thing that I'd like to believe
That you could give me all your love
You could give me just the enough
And we could live in paradise
and never have to leave
But is it true?"
Another Girl:
"If I was so gone, why didn't you say?
You keep me waiting by.
On the floor, you know I'd crawl,
Just to change your mind.
If I lock the door just to stall you for a moment,
I won't get you, even if i tried"
When It's over :
I won't cry about you now
I won't leave behind any clouds when it's over
Im just a clown when it's over, oh wow oh wow
Natalie Bergman (songwriter):
Wild Belle propose an innovative but vintage sound, adding a soul voice but stronger and sexy, that talk to us as the protagonist, it narrates the disappointment and humble words of a broken heart, as herself said “you're hurting me, but I'm okay without you.” I have a hunch that this brilliant duo will amazed us really soon, with more odd material and radiants music videos!
Finally this is my musical secret weapon, this is my week's top 5, ENJOY!
PD: Listen the entire album, you will not regret!
